There are a lot of people I look up to that feed into me different aspects of my life from personal to business. Today I am celebrating some people in my life. One of them probably doesn’t even know me, but she is still someone I look at to learn lessons from. It’s important to celebrate those people around you who feed into you. They can be in your everyday life, or they can be indirect like through social media. The three people below resonate with different parts of my life but each is key in their own way.
- Myleik Teele of CurlBOX: I had heard of CurlBOX, a subscription box service, before through social media, but just this year got hip to the person behind it all. When I found Myleik’s instagram I was automatically hooked as I scrolled through her page and saw all her book recommendations. As a avid book lover, I am always looking for new reads to keep me challenged, innovative and inspired. Through following her on instagram, and listening to her podcast, I have learned from Myleik the importance of continued learning and consistency. The story of how she started and grew CurlBOX shows me the importance of believing in yourself and your dreams and sticking to it. Myleik also talks a lot about self-care and the importance of therapy and mental health, which I have not seen. She has been someone I look at for inspiration, motivation, and great book recommendations.

- Marshawn Evans Daniels of Godfidence™: Marshawn came my university in 2009 as a guest speaker, right around the time she put out her book S.K.I.R.T.S in the Boardroom: A Woman’s Survival Guide to Success in Business and Life. During that time I had joined her mailing list and had enjoyed hundreds of inspirational emails throughout the years. Fast forward to today, where I am now a part of Marshawn’s Godfidence Business School. Working with Marshawn has shown me what I always thought was missing – women of faith being successful in business. I have connected with so many inspiring women with a variety of backgrounds, skills and unique passions. Marshawn is someone I look to not only for coaching in branding and business but as spiritual encouragement and teachings.

3 Ways to Deal with Doubt (and Walk with Faith Instead)
- My cousin Lucie: I’ve never actually seen my cousin Lucie not laughing, smiling or just being goofy. I’m sure she has her moments, but whenever I’ve been around her, it has always been high spirits. Summer 2014, Lucie had her baby very prematurely. My baby cousin had to stay in the NICU for over 6 months. It was a hard time for my cousin and our family overall. Whenever I talked to Lucie though, she was always positive and hopeful. I know the year wasn’t an easy year for her with all the hospital visits, the surgeries, the changed take home dates while still balancing work, another child and her home. My cousin exemplifies faith even within the storm. By watching her remain positive even when things didn’t look promising has encouraged me and shown me a new example of strength. Lucie is someone who I know will always be able to bring out the light even in the most dire situations and I’m proud to have her as an example.
